Conscious Conversations

Neel van Lierop Founder of Inner Compass

I have been a huge fan of the Inner Compass Cards for a few years now. They play a part in my own personal self-inquiry journey, so it only made sense to sit down and have a conscious conversation with the mind and soul behind the brand. I have a few girl crushes and Neel van Lierop is most definitely one of them. A woman who used her personal journey to be her ultimate compass (pun intended) to steer her into her current path and purpose, executing with grace and gratitude.

Inner Compass cards is an easy-to-use, highly effective tool for self-reflection and personal growth with playful and whimsical undertones.
Designed with intention to aid in personal growth and awakening, the cards open new life pathways and perceptions exploring alternative themes and patterns.

Eclectic in nature, Inner Compass was activated from a combination of ancient wisdoms linking Mayan mythology, Taoism, Buddhism and the I Ching.

By arranging these sources along a specific algorithm, one card contains many levels of depth and interconnectedness, so every being will benefit from their use. Rooted in clear, affirmative imagery and forward moving language, Inner Compass cards lead toward light, love and prosperity.

  1. Tell us about you, you brand and the place that you call home?

I'm an intuit, before covid I was based in Amsterdam and Los Angeles. Since every meeting and event moved to zoom, I decided to stay in the Netherlands.
From an early age, I moved through toxic patterns and fears which later awakened me to a life filled with more inner peace and gratitude. My newly found self-knowledge became the foundation for the 49 life-themes within the Inner Compass deck. I conceptualised Inner Compass cards from a need to create a stylish and transformative deck for the global community. As a vessel of universal wisdom, I feel honoured to guide others toward regaining their personal power. Working with me offers an experience to explore and create deeper meaning in one’s life.

    2. A name holds a lot of power, what is the inspiration and meaning behind Inner Compass?

I was feeling distracted and sensing something was missing in life. This inspired years of self-exploration and eventually I found a direction that feels effortlessly and smooth. It's like finding the right path. So, Inner Compass was the best tool to oppose the issue of distraction.

    3. Your brand and ethos is so heavily grounded on gaining direction, perspective and purpose through stilling

the mind and connecting with intention. Why is this important to you?

Living more intuitively and from clear intentions, brought me a life with almost no stress, lots of flow, serendipity and more meaning.

    4. As someone who has been on their own profound journey and continues to hold space for others, how do you show up for yourself?

I need to create space for myself, to withdraw regularly. Also, I dance as much as I can.

    5. How can we adopt these same principles and practices in our everyday lives?

Just do it. You gain the world by choosing you, and say no to others a little more often.

6. You’ve chosen to do things from a far more conscious and intentional space, why?

Although I had already been passionately reading a lot about consciousness, I only ended up doing the real deal when I had to heal myself. I suffered insomnia, which was unbearable so I was desperate to sleep. I had no clue that this was a transformation towards a whole new lifestyle. Little did I know.

7. You currently split your life between Amsterdam and LA, both with polarising lifestyles, how do you find balance and grounding?

I retreat in nature every few weeks. It's like I really really need that to balance out my chakras and reset my entire operating system.

8. Travel has a powerful way of inspiring, innovating and shifting something within all of us, was there a journey or destination that you visited/experienced that helped inspire you to cultivate your business in this way?

I'm a manifestor in Human Design and I thrive on discovering new things. Ideally, I experience something new every day. This can be places, meeting new people or gaining new insight.

9. Let’s take it all the way back. When you sit and reflect, which points in your life do you feel conspired to bring you to this very moment?

I believe that everything happens for a reason. The key moments in my life which offered me the biggest transformation, comprise of health issues and heartbreak.Fortunately, the more conscious I became, the better I can see what I can change without the need for pain. Which makes every bit of the inner work worth it!

10. We have a way of seeing the end product and thinking that the story and journey has been an easy one, what hurdles and obstacles have you faced along the way and what have they taught you not only about the business but about yourself?

Life often hurts in order to offer you growth. That's why the shadows and obstacles are as important as the light and bright parts of life. For me the obstacles are often found in my love life. I'm still learning every day. Step by step I become more pure and closer to myself, my needs and to others.

11. What are some of your daily rituals that help you connect to self, mind, body and soul?

Walking the dog is obviously a wonderful daily routine. And every morning, I take myself on a coffee date to reflect and relax.

12. Outside of your tribe experiencing beautiful conscious products, what else are you hoping that they take away from the brand?

The most important intention for our brand is to connect people to their potential. I believe if anyone would find his or her innermost calling, the world would be in balance and peace.

13. What can we expect from you in the coming months?

During quarantine, I started writing our third card deck. So this is a little scoop. We'll be launching KIDS CARDS this fall.

14. A quote/mantra that you live by? ....and why?

"Be foolishly in love, because love is all there is" - Rumi
I honestly think one of the main reasons why we're 'here', is to experience love. It's pretty scary, but more than worth it.

15. A book that you can’t live without?.....and why?

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle brought me 'home' in 2008. But honestly I totally rely on cards, because you draw them from a subconscious place.
